Interiors // Design Manifest

Today I think we should talk about the supreme talent that is Design Manifest. Many of you may already be familiar with this father/daughter team, even if you're not aware of it. Remember this loft that made blog rounds awhile back? That's my girl, Naomi. She is seriously tops and she's at it again.

Truly a master of the mix, she is aces at combining color, pattern and scale for maximum impact. She also shares my intense love for persian rugs. I mean, please. Freaking look at the color in that bad boy! Plus stripes and a peacock mirror? Game. Over.

The global influence is always apparent, but appropriately exercised. There's a classic element to her work that tempers the bohemian vibe just right. That balance is so dang hard to achieve! Lots of people overdo it.

The color whore in me is squealing right now. The rug and the light fixture combo slays me. I've considered Panton chairs more than a few times (poor Eric is tired of hearing about the dining room chair debate) . . . don't you think they would look so good with the new rug?! Part of me will always resist what's already been done though. I need covetable chairs that no one has ever seen! (And at a good price. And in time to host Thanksgiving dinner. No big deal.)

She's revealing the living room of their latest project today (rounding out the tour of the spaces I've shown), and it's going straight into the inspiration files for our pad. White walls, saturated rug, pops of color, graphic art and such an elegant ease to the space. I'm entirely obsessed and I want it all now. Way to go, Nay!

interiors // rethinking the white . . . maybe

just when i was all fully convinced that i wanted white walls in our dining room, sue goes and posts this.

daun curry for modern declaration // via the zhush

who wouldn't want that warm and welcoming cornflower wallpaper in their dining room??
(random fact: cornflower was one of my favorite crayola colors as a kid. and not just for the name.)

dark antique dining table . . . stately white chairs (i hope) . . . statement lamps on a modern console . . .
gorgeous fireplace and bits of brass . . .

totally not ready to commit, am i?

also, a thousand thank yous for all of your awesome feedback on the new apartment 34 column! you honestly have no idea how much your support means, friends. ox

grand entryways are awesome

powder room updates are coming, promise. turns out, it's tough to get good shots of a 1 ft x 1 ft room with no natural light. who'd have thought?

but i will say that this has inspired me to go on a painting binge. g's room is next (dark purple, remember?). and then the entryway. so let's just admire this for today, shall we?

first of all, that floor kills. KILLS. i'm also quite smitten with the nice clean ivory paint color up top. then there's the arched doorways, abundance of natural light, the fact that the hall is wide enough for a gorge antique console and dream settee (which i want in my formal right this second, please). those topiaries would look good on my front stoop (eric wants lions. who's gonna win that one?)

at this point, i'm really just focused on the paint color. i need something clean and classic.
any color reccos?

okay, and maybe that settee.
nails.

interiors || katie ridder and a crush on color

you guys. i freaking love your comments! you honestly make my days so much better. i wish i knew every last one of you in person, because i know we would have a seriously good time.

moving on . . .

i'm sure most all of us are familiar with katie ridder's semi-recently released katie ridder rooms, yes? if not, here's what you need to go out and get immediately:

get it on amazon like i just did (late to the party, i know)

i know this might seem like a huge no-no since i just came from a conference harping on original content, but i'm in a whole new place when it comes to inspiration since i have a new house to decorate.
so bear with me if you've seen these images a thousand times.
pretend you just bought a new house to decorate, too, and you're equally obsessed with color.

katie seems to know a thing or two about color. and she's certainly not scared of it.
which i love.

images and design via katie ridder

it would be completely unfair for me to be considering lavendar walls for g's room now, wouldn't it?
so many ideas. so few rooms.

interiors || twisted tradition

you're going to have to excuse the interior-heavy posts for the next few weeks. i'm a bit obsessed, as you can imagine. the loft is slimming down and the boxes are piling up around here. it's bittersweet now that it's all real. i've wanted it so badly for the last few months, and now i'm starting to see what i'll be losing when we make this move (albeit gaining a great deal, too!).

anyhoo . . . i've been stealing away moments to peek through some of my old shelter mags as i pack them up. i'm one of those that tabs my pages when i come across something yummy. are you? it's enlightening to see how my taste has evolved in the last year or so. i have some beautiful spaces marked in the november 2010 elle decor, no doubt. but one that i didn't mark a year ago that i've now reveled in thoroughly is the upstate new york collaboration of architect gil schafer and (longtime fave of mine) miles redd. please observe:

photos by william waldron for elle decor

don't argue with me. that shiz is good. worldly, unexpected, colorful, perfectly layered . . .
what's not to like?

interiors || inspired

spaces that are inspiring (and possibly hindering) the home search........YUM YUM YUM.

1  ||  2  ||  3  ||  4  ||  5

that second space would be dark dark navy or black instead of green, but you get the idea.

more of my crazy all over the place taste here.
