Monday Blues // 47

A little bit of Wearstler can brighten any Monday morning!

Also, this is awesome and is a much cooler depiction of how I would describe my life right now.
Everything is in. slow. motion.

Monday Blues // 46

Lauren Santo Domingo's office, designed by Daniel Romualdez via Architectural Digest

Most of us have probably seen this image already. Being that I just got my issue of AD, I finally got to devour it in all of its glossy glory and I'm dying. Love the mix of pattern, the pink on the walls with those black door frames, the bold simplicity of those prints, the grounding stripes. And then there's the burl wood tables that make my heart explode into a thousand tiny pieces. Too good.

I have been going back and forth between a gray with lavender undertones and a peachy coral for my office at home, and this really makes me lean towards the coral.

Please note that I will NOT be painting said office anytime soon. The will to paint has expired completely. Over it. We slaved over the entry/stairs/second floor hallway this weekend and I don't think either of us (or my mom, who is both a saint and a crazy person because she loves to trim) would care to see a paint brush for some time. I am very very happy with the results from both floors, but the staircase leaves a bit to be desired. I'll take care of that once I can stomach the idea of painting again, but here's a peek at the results so far:

To quote my husband: "I think we have moved past Johnson County beige."

Sassy, right?? Now to get some art on those walls.
LOVE our new Ballard fixture in the entry, too!

Also, if I disappear this week, it's because my dreams came true and I had this baby early.
Mama's ready.

Monday Blues // 45

I would like to be at this bar right now, drinking all of those delicious bevvies.

In all actuality, my craving for adult beverages is only really bad when I'm scrolling through my Instagram feed or the words "happy" and "hour" are anywhere near the same sentence. Otherwise, I can't lie -- I don't miss hangovers at. all.

How was everyone's weekend??

Monday Blues // 44

Obsessed with the fabric on those chairs.
Also with this nursery from the same home.

I dig the impact of the rug, but I'm not sure I love the rug.

Hope you all had a great weekend! We acquired a new piece for the formal. This was, of course, totally necessary because when you spot things on Craigs, you have to jump whether you actually need them or not. Amiright? So now I can say a room in our house is actually done!! Hell hath frozen over.

The nursery is very close behind. I just want it to be ready already! We hit the 37 week mark on Saturday, which means we should technically be prepared for bambino to arrive at any time. Cra-zy. I was 1cm dilated at my last doctor appointment -- yes, I know it can take weeks to dilate further, but that really did light a fire!

Snagged a couple other beauties while scouring one of our local antique malls for a dining table. I came up short on the table, but apparently can't pass up the brass no matter how hard I try.

Totes had to.
Happy Monday!

Monday Blues // 42

So I missed the chance to tell my fellow Americans happy 4th last week. Oopsies. Hope everyone, regardless of where you reside, had a wonderful weekend! We got a LOT accomplished around hurr, which feels amazing. This little bambino is sneaking up on us and it's all making me a little anxious. I hear they don't need much to start, but you know every first time mom wants that shiz in place. (Even the procrastinating ones - ha!) So we're close....ish. The crib is painted and back together and we're making progress on the nursery closet overhaul.

It worked out that I got a lot of family time over the long weekend as well. Couldn't be happier about that. My little brother and I are very close, but don't really manage to spend much one on one time together...when my car needed some work, he ended up chauffeuring me around for a day just the two of us, and it was so so great. Wish we had made more time for days like that!

Eric and I also indulged in some down time with a little date night on Wednesday and a few lazy evenings cuddled up on the couch. While I haven't been terribly emotional during this pregnancy (unless you count my shortening temper), watching What Dreams May Come on Saturday night really brought on the waterworks! Have you guys seen that? Wow. It had been awhile for me -- way before the man of my dreams, the idea of children, and having to put a pet down -- and lemme tell ya, the raccoon look was in full effect.

So there's my Dear Diary entry for the month. Holy novel.

And if you follow BIA on Instagram or Facebook, you know that the above shots inspired some nursery action this weekend.
More to come on that soon...

Monday Blues // 41

Happy Monday! We're coming off an amazing baby shower high with friends and family over the weekend. I must say it again -- my cup seriously runneth over. I'd been feeling like preparing for this wee one was a bit like planning a wedding. (I may or may not tend to put a lot of pressure on myself when it comes to - oh - everything.) But I have to say that now I just feel so so grateful not only to have a healthy babe on the way, but such an incredible extended family to introduce him or her to! Even though we still have many things to do and figure out, I just feel this overwhelming sense of calm. Finally. It's wonderful.

I'm sure a week or two out, I'll be a complete wreck all over again.

I digress.

Gaby just posted this space last week, but it was so good that I couldn't help but use it for today's Monday Blues. Smitten with the brightness, the pattern play and that grounding black of the chair.

Hope you are all in for a fabulous week ahead!

Monday Blues // 40

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I have to say, we had an awesome and productive week off. A little bit of time out of town...a lot of progress on things we just couldn't get accomplished (who knew you had to shop for daycare years in advance in this city?!)...and even a few late mornings in bed. Amazing! Guessing I won't get another week like that for...oh...18 years :)

Wish I had more news to report on the dining room front, but I'm still working on the table bu'niss. I both love and hate Craigslist for the back and forth and coordination it often requires. This is where it pays to be patient, I guess. I did like one suggestion of finding an awesome base and then figuring out a tabletop afterwards. Sort of like this mayhaps:

I know hubs would loooooove to see a geometric concrete base.
Pretty sure I would love to see one of those Apparatus fixtures hanging from the ceiling.

Monday Blues // 39

Happy Monday, party people. Are we ready for another week? I actually have this week off with the intention of getting as many things knocked out as humanly possible....things like a waaaaaaaaay overdue eye appointment (I'd been putting this off because I heard rumor that your vision can change during pregnancy, but I'm supremely delinquent on the pair of contacts I've been wearing)...touring the hospital...looking into daycare...finding a pediatrician....working on the nursery (and now the office that is frighteningly overrun with homeless items previously in the nursery)...you know, all of the fun stuff that's hard to tackle on top of regular life.

I might sneak some fun in there, too.

What we WON'T be tackling anytime soon is our master bedroom. I knew this would be the case from day one, but I still itch to make our room a sanctuary. I have been dead set on charcoal grass cloth, but can't seem to pull the trigger because of the price tag. It's just too extravagant when there are so many other things draining the bank account. So we will continue to hold out until that can happen....or until I change my mind on the grass cloth. Whichever comes first.

I came across this master bedroom designed by Emily Henderson recently, and I really love the look and feel. Fresh, bold, and the right mix of old and new. Definitely going into the inspiration file.

Those geode lamps were overdone in blogland with a quickness, so I haven't considered them despite the assortment of delicious candy colors....until I saw the picture above. And now I really want one! A burl wood campaign dresser perch wouldn't hurt either.

Love how she faked larger windows with the curtains. Also sort of obsessed with the gold curtains and curtain rods. Delicious contrast with the blues. Well done, Emily.

Not that she needs my approval. I think we already knew she was awesome, didn't we?

Monday Blues // 38

This room is siiiiiiiiic.

WHAT a whirlwind weekend. If I thought the weeks were going by quickly, the weekends are going even faster. (But that's usually true, isn't it?) We packed in as much as we could with some antiquing, a bit of family time, and lots of yard work. Then I wrapped things up with a fun little ladies night. Turns out, Monday morning's not as rough when you have to pass on the adult beverages :)

I scored a few things for the nursery. This table is surprisingly sturdy, and offers great tabletop space. And it was a total steal, so I couldn't pass it up.

Can we just talk about these chubby elephants? Please. Basically begging to be in Baby Reed's room.

After many fruitless eBay attempts, FINALLY nabbed a rug for the powder room...locally, no less.
Tucker approves, despite how mad he looks about it.
Deal was too good to pass up the pair, although only one has a home for now.

A little sneakity peek at last night's soiree. Much more to come later this week!

No, I didn't eat all of that cheese.
Yes, I wanted to.

Happy Monday!

Monday Blues // 35

Don't you love this space? I'm looking to eventually do something similar in our family room. (You know, when I have several G's sitting around for my wishlist sectional.) Extra points for the upholstered ottoman, over-sized cushions, fabulous french doors and...well, okay, just all of it.

My sweet mama painted the nursery this weekend for my Mother's Day gift, and it looks amazing! Can't wait to finally start getting to work on the rest of it. (About time, right?)

Happy Monday!

Monday Blues // 34

Major yesses.

How was everyone's weekend? Ours was quieter than we'd been planning, which was pretty amazing. I was due a weekend off. We slept late, watched movies, got some things done around the house and in the yard, and even snuck in a bit of antique shopping.

After giving it a good week, I've decided that this isn't doing it for me:

I swear the color is a nice light & bright aqua...that little nook just makes it so dark and...candy colored. So I think we're going with a matte black instead. You know, when I can convince E to repaint it for me. Because he lives to paint.

Speaking of painting things, we FINALLY got my amazing astro prints (courtesy of Jessica) framed and hung! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Gridding sucks. So does not having an Ikea. I finally bit it and went with these guys, which Eric sprayed gold (told you painting is his life now). They're not the best quality frames in the world, but I'm going with the notion that you barely notice them because those prints are so amazing!!!

Smiles every time I walk through that room, so I guess all the pain and suffering of measuring was worth it.

And speaking of smiling, if you'd been at our house Sunday night, you would have been watching G's 30 seconds of fame as she nailed herself in the nose with styrofoam airplane on America's Funniest Home Videos! Pretty fun. (G is my step-daughter for those of you that are newer around here.)

Our little star.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

Monday Blues // 33

ummm...nails.
I love anything with that collected over time feel with irreverent use of color.

Also, this happened yesterday:

This is the door from our kitchen/eat-in to the garage. I've been wanting to paint it for-ev-er, but have been going back and forth between a bold color or black. Black feels classic and safe, so I knew I had to try this first. I love the color long time, but I didn't get immediately giddy upon seeing it hung, so I'm not sure it's staying. It was also 11pm after a long weekend of moving my mama and having Eric out of town, so we'll live with it for awhile before making any rash decisions. Plus, I think he would kill me if I made any such demands right away. So more on this later.

Home Depot patio reveal tomorrow, ya'll!
I'll be posting a bit later than usual -- 9am Central.

Monday Blues // 32

Happy Monday, kids!

If you were following me over the weekend, you might have seen that I did some serious plant shopping for the patio. Normally I wouldn't go so early in the season because we're still getting freezing overnight temps every once in awhile, but the Home Depot Patio Challenge waits for no one! Which is fine with me as long as I don't end up replacing too many of them...I can't wait to show you how things have turned out!

I'm not gonna lie, my momma and I had some serious fun picking out pretties. My dad even stopped by to keep us company while we got things potted. Just a regular family weekend around here.

Poor Eric was out slaving in the yard.
But it looks AMAZING, so it's worth it.
At least to me, who does a lot less labor in the yard....Soooorry :)

There was some solid fire pit time to reward everyone for their efforts.
Even if the fire itself was miniature.

How was everyone else's weekend? Anything exciting happening??

Get serious.
Completely obsessed with this space! Quite the daring mix of pattern, color and texture. It works for me. You?

Vintage fabric on that sofa....Life is so unfair.
And speaking of life, I'm so glad to have you guys in it. Even if it's virtually. Love my mommy coaches! Thanks to all who commented and emailed after Friday's post. oxox

Monday Blues // 30

Not gonna lie, I could have used another day (or two) in my weekend. I did sneak a few quiet moments on Sunday to catch up on emails and peruse some of my latest home decor mags. So nice to relax just a bit and get caught up! Would not have complained one bit if I'd been forced to do that in the space above. Gotta love those little hits of blue!

Monday Blues // 29

Happy Monday! We were finally blessed with weather that warranted a little bit of patio action and yard work (gotta get ready for that Home Depot Patio Challenge!) so much of our weekend was spent outdoors. Heavenly. Hope those of you celebrating enjoyed your holiday weekend as well!

To kick off the week, I have to ask:
Have you guys seen the newest, greatest art and textile shop in town? Behold, Rebecca Atwood's gorge collection:

Blues for days. Delicious, right??
I fell hard for her art selection as well. May have even conned her into sending me one pre-launch :)
Best check out her limited edition inventory before they're gone!
