house guest || lark&linen

today's treat comes to us straight from canada. my sweet friend jacquelyn of lark & linen has been kind enough to stop by and give us some delicious inspiration of the housewarming (and dare i say holiday?) variety. i found jacquelyn's lovely corner of the web quite awhile ago, and have loved every single visit since. i adore everything about this girl; she's cool, calm, collected, and very obviously gives betty crocker a run for her money. my only regret is that i didn't buy a house just a smidge closer to her!

While Tobe gets settled in her new home (three cheers for her!) I thought I'd help her hold down the fort over here on BIA. In light of our friends upcoming move, I've decided to showcase a few fun, and slightly different house warming gift ideas (which could also be translated into Christmas present ideas - 'tis the season and all that jazz).  If you're anything like me, the idea of showing up to visit a friends new digs empty handed leaves you feeling less than stellar. It's imperative to warm that house after all. I've rounded up a few gift combinations suitable to fit any budget, and hooray! now you no longer have to worry about that last minute scramble to the liquor store for that go-to bottle of wine (not to say that I don't thoroughly enjoy a good bottle of vino myself - but now you can really impress).

tres cute, no? told you she was good.
there's plenty more thoughtful inspiration over at lark & linen for you to peep should you be so inclined.

house guest || design me daily

welcome to another week of housewarming fun! after a big move this weekend, eric and i are slowly getting settled into our new place . . . and busy cleaning up our old one. thankfully, i'm lucky to have even more amazing ladies to stop by and entertain you. up today is the stylish sarah from design me daily. lucky me, i got to meet sarah in person several months ago when i visited the very fabulous city of chicago. she was sweet enough to spend a day introducing me to some of her fave spots, and even stuck around to discover some new ones with me. lemme tell ya, if you're into design and fashion, she's your girl.

Hello BIA readers! I am so excited to be guest posting for Tobe, who is super busy making her new house look fabulous. I have never owned my own home but a girl can dream, right?

Probably the most essential space in my future dream home is the office. I was going to choose closet, but let's be real, the office is the money-maker, while the closet is the money-taker. Office wins! And below are just a few of the inspirational images I've gathered to create my ideal work space.

Organization of your work space (especially when you're a freelancer) is key. And when you're a designer to boot, it has to be organized and pretty :) These items help accomplish both!

Accessories add color and style to a work space. Useful items like cute notebooks and paper organizers help spruce up your desktop while helping you stay organized too.

And what's more important to me than anything else? My butt. More specifically, the comfort of my butt while I'm working. There is nothing worse than a stiff chair with no cushion or space to change position every now and then. These chairs look so comfy and also super cute! (see the pattern here?)

Well, I hope my work space inspiration gave you all something to drool over! A big thanks to Tobe for letting me share my office delights today and good luck to Tobe and the hubs with the new house!

thanks, sarah! no doubt your office trumps this inspiration tenfold! these are some amazing picks to consider for the new home office (for which i am thrilled to now have a dedicated room!).

Staff Post by Wayne Visbeen

I have had the privilege of playing some of the most revered golf courses in the world in the past 15 years. Many of these classics have been in the East Coast, which has a wonderful tradition of great courses, and for me, even better, great clubhouses. In the East I have played, Oakmont, Oakhill, Baltusrol, Winged Foot, Merion, and most recently Ridgewood Country Club. These courses have all hosted PGA events and have a long tradition of golfing excellence. Several of these courses have two things in common that I want to refer to today: golf course Architect, A.W. Tillinghast and Architect Clifford C. Wendehack. Wendehack worked most prolifically in the 20’s and was responsible for some of my favorite clubhouse designs.

Winged Foot’s Clubhouse is considered by many the quintessential clubhouse and is one of the most beautiful I have visited.

Visbeen Associates has been selected to begin a process of master planning and designing several elements of the Ridgewood Country Club prior to their hosting the Barclays Event the summer of 2014. We are developing a practice facility and doing an addition and pro shop renovation. The future plans include a new pool, pool house, exercise facility and updated kitchen and dining areas. During this time, I have had the luxury of playing the course a few times and enjoying the beauty of this world-class facility. It is a great opportunity to become a part of architectural history.

We are also working on another Wendehack Club, Hackensack Country Club in Ordell, N.J. to look at a new pool house and pool facility.

house guest || parlour

today's house guest is - you guessed it - another fave. i'd been reading nichole's blog for some time and then imagine my delight when, just a few months ago, she announced a move back to kansas city! unfortunately, we haven't had a chance to connect yet, but i've loved following her progress as she decorates her gorgeous new abode, and am in high hopes that we can make that coffee date happen very soon!

Hi all!  This is Nichole from Parlour, and I'm here to help Tobe and give you your design fix while she is in the midst of packing and moving.  First off, I want to congratulate Tobe on finding a fabulous new home for her to love and make her own. I know what a long process it was for them to find "the one," and I'm so glad they did! Second, although, this might be a touch on the feminine side for Miss T, I thought this might make a lovely looking starting point for a room in her new home.  A little modern, a little glam, a little boho.  We got it all in there!  Hope it gives a little inspiration for those empty rooms. Thanks so much for having me T.  So happy for you all!  Bring on the pics!

Highfield Progress

We recently received these images of the progress being made on the Highfield residence. It's really coming along!

This will be the final product:

house guest || MFAMB

true to form, today's guest is another daily visit for me. jenny from my favorite and my best not only has absolutely impeccable taste, but she's equally hilarious to boot. i haven't missed a post since the fateful day i discovered her blog. if you've been there, you know why.

turns out, jenny also gets to brag about being the talented creator of my housewarming gift to myself (c'mon. that's allowed, right?). she's recently started selling paintings, one of which i am thrilled to have snagged. when jenny asked what room i wanted her to do a moodboard for, i knew immediately that she would own my new formal living room. and she wasn't allowed to leave out my new painting . . . happily, she also (instinctively) payed tribute to my new purple infatuation.

thanks, jenny! looks like i have some shopping to do . . .
